Beautiful building in a perfect location, a minute walk away from Newcastle station. Very inviting and friendly staff. Clean room, cosy bed. Outside is noisey with people out on the town at night, but that's to be expected from being so close to the station. It didn't bother me. Very cheap for the quality of room and comfort, it will always be my first choice if I stayed in Newcastle again.
I travel to Newcastle quite often and this hotel is good value for money. It's only 50 yards from the train station and it's decently clean and comfortable. I recommend it.
Hotel rooms are quiet and comfortable. Check in is always efficient. Restaurant does decent breakfast (apart from the coffee) but evening menu is poor quality. Staff are always nice.
A very busy hotel on the weekend we stayed. The public rooms are very impressive but I cannot say the same for our room. For the price I would have expected much more. The room was small and the bed was more three quarters than double. It didn't help that it was pushed against the wall. All the furniture was dated making the room look dated and tired. This was also reflected in the bathroom which had a high ceiling and just a towel rail for heating making it feel very cold. Our sleep was disturbed by drunks in the corridor outside our room possibly from a function going on in the hotel. On a plus side the staff were very friendly and the breakfasts were very good also the location was good for Newcastle's attractions.
We arrived at 11am with check-in not available until 3pm. Very helpfully, Paul O'Neil the Concierge helped us in with our luggage and got us checked in early. Excellent service. He even helped us up to our room with our luggage, where we discovered we'd been given a free upgrade. Exceptional service. Room was lovely and comfortable. Facilities superb. Hotel bar and restaurant excellent. We had a lovely breakfast both mornings and a beautiful dinner on our last evening. Over all an excellent location for a short city break - so close to the City Centre.
