Where do I start? This place was awful, 50 for room and breakfast which I thought at the time was good. Room was freezing one minute and too hot the next, no blinds at the windows just curtains water leaking through the window, shower was broken the dial to turn it on kept dropping so had to keep hold of it whilst showering, the hall ways were grubby and when we came to get breakfast I was gutted to find it was a cardboard box with a small muffin carton of orange and a packet of mixed dried fruits . Safe to say I would not return here ever again
Quick and easy check in, nice friendly staff spoke to three in total. The room was nice generally clean however it was a complicated floor layout to get there. The check out time was 10am which was earlier than other hotels Ive had in the past however you can pay extra to stay later. The room was generally nice you needed to pay to use the tv. There was not many power outlets. The room was quite small and we could not figure out how to use the heating so it was chilly. The rooms on the picture looked more spacious and the bathroom was smaller than expected however it was modern. We paid extra for a window and the view was of a brick was and was left slightly disappointed.
The reception staff were helpful and polite, the rooms are extremely minimal but acceptable. The cleanliness wasnt fantastic however, cobwebs and a lot of dust was found in our room. The bed was decent enough, slightly firm but not too bad for the price of the room. The sheet was extremely thin and didnt do much to keep us warm. The ensuite bathroom was very good though. We had to pay extra for use of the TV, and WiFi was only available if we purchased it. The corridor was extremely loud at night and in the morning but the location of the hotel is perfect as it is very close to the quayside and nightlife. A hotel worker knocked on our door at 5:30am while we were trying to sleep, he was accusing us of smoking in the room when there was no proof we were doing so. He told us that he was knocking on every door on your floor as the smoke alarm in reception is indicating smoke on your floor - the fire alarm hadnt gone off in our room and I highly doubt he would be allowed to disturb every person on the second floor at 5:30am so I am pretty certain he was lying about him knocking on every door on the floor. He gave me no choice but to allow him to enter our room even though I wasnt comfortable with it. It was totally inappropriate, especially at 5:30am.The hotel is fine for the price but my advice is to choose a different cheap hotel in Newcastle.
A nice, clean, central hotel at an unbelievable low price. The rooms are comfortable with a modern design and a good size. Bathrooms are also modern with soap, shower gel and shampoo included. The TV and internet are optional extras, as is bag storage and late check out. If you dont require these extras (which are frankly unnecessary in the age of 4G and smart phones) then you cannot go wrong with this hotel. Absolute bargain!
No towels in my room when I checked in so had to trek back to reception to get some. Comfortable, clean, modern room but small for 2 people with bed up against a wall. Air conditioning complicated to use which meant the room ended up very warm. Had to pay extra for WiFi as no phone reception in rooms. Not good value for the price I paid due to extra charges. OK for a one night stay. In a lovely area near the waterfront.
