This pub has had a refurbishment quite recently which was much needed. It always had great beer at a fair price but used to smell! Now it's a lot better and being open until 3am most nights, I have often found that when I visit Newcastle, we finish our nights out at the Head of Steam. There is a well stocked bar upstairs with craft beer and local microbrewery cask ales which rotate regularly. The bottle selection is reliably good.Downstairs, there is often live music or a club night, especially on weekends.
Excellent bar, amazing selection of beers and really good location right by the train station
This is a nice place to meet up with friends. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is a good selection of real ale available at the bar along with your stannary lagers. It can get busy here of an evening. Odd seating arrangement with the tables built in to the seats. The toilets are clean and decent.
Always liked this bar. Nice atmosphere. Good meeting place for drink and conversation. Too much wood cladding. The crowd that get in arent mainstream. So if thats what you want go somewhere else.
I always love coming in here. There is an excellent selection of drinks and the staff are very pleasant courteous. It's always busy, so many must be under the same impression as me.The background music always seems to be to my liking and it's a good spot for live bands too.
